Sound Reduction

Your choice of windows can have a significant impact on your home – they’ll do everything from adding elegance and beauty to letting in more light and proving energy efficiency.
Did you know there are windows that can also greatly reduce the noise from outdoors? Anlin’s line of Del Mar windows is designed to reduce exterior noise, making your home a quieter, more comfortable place to live.

Not Just Another Pretty Window

Windows have come a long way, from simply being a way to let in light and air to today’s windows, which are manufactured with better living in mind. Insulated glass systems now provide thermal barriers that protect you from whatever nature cooks up, either keeping cold air out or holding your conditioned air in for comfort and energy efficiency. They’re also sturdy: Anlin vinyl windows are built to last, so they’re not only beautiful but durable enough to last a lifetime.
In addition to these benefits, Anlin’s Del Mar Windows come standard with sophisticated sound suppression technology that keeps noise from neighbors and the streets outside so you can rest and relax inside.

Sound Suppression Technology

Del Mar windows are designed with two layers of dissimilar glass, meaning that each pane is of a different thickness. This design acts to break down sound waves as they enter your home, reducing decibel levels to a fraction of their original strength. This technology reduces sound much more effectively than single or other dual-pane window designs.

STC (Sound Transmission Class) ratings are one of approximately 12,000 standards set by the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials). Windows, doors, walls and other building materials all have recommended ratings, with window ratings ranging from 18 to 38. Del Mar windows are among the highest-rated windows, for superior protection from outside noise.

In this Anlin test video, decibel levels are compared between an open and a closed Del Mar window with sound suppression technology. With the window open, the sound registers at 85 decibels. Once the window is closed, the decibel level is lowered to about 60 decibels – a significant difference, and perhaps the difference between you wanting to pull your hair out and putting a smile on your face.

They say good fences make good neighbors. It may be that good windows will do the same!
